During the TCR in July/August progress can be followed via followmychallenge.com. Each rider has a gps tracker that records his/hers position.
The main screen looks like this:

There is a map, each dot is a rider.
Left-clicking on a rider, one sees additional details explained below.

- The position in the race (this can also be seen from the Leaderboard tab on the top).
- Time since the gps signal was last updated. Due to remote areas without phone coverage, there can be significant delays.
- Various statistics related to distance and time.
- Timing, I personally find the stopped time interesting. In these races, what determines the outcome is to a large extent the time stopped, not so much the speed.
- Current weather at the riders position.
- Show or hide the track the rider has been riding. This is interesting for the TCR that does not have a fixed route, so all riders will take different routes.
The main menu above, looks like this:

Live, self explanatory. See the “action” live.
Windy, overlay weather maps. Wind, precipitation, temperature etc
Leaderboard, this is important. Look out for no 156.
Replay, relive the action. The default layer is satellite image, I prefer the normal map. Use the usual layer icon in the upper right corner to change it. Use the slider in the lower part to see how the positions changes over time.
Analytics, various stats.
Photo, links to Instahram etc.
Use the page and enjoy.
